A State Savings Bank debit card lets you purchase goods and services from thousands of participating merchants worldwide. Use it to pay for purchases anywhere MasterCard® is accepted. Unlike a credit card, your debit card is linked to your checking account and purchases are automatically deducted from that account.

State Savings Bank also offers a regular ATM card that gives you access to your checking or statement savings account anytime at one of the State Savings Bank ATM locations throughout northern Michigan.

How to Use Your Card For Free

You can use your State Savings Bank debit or ATM card for free virtually anywhere!


No Charge at State Savings Bank ATMs
Use your ATM card to withdraw cash without fees at any State Savings Bank ATM location:

    • Benzonia Office (1669 Benzie Hwy)
    • Shop-N-Save (1747 Benzie Hwy)
    • Beulah Office (49 Benzie Boulevard, U.S. 31)
    • Empire Office (11470 S. Leelanau Hwy)
    • Frankfort Office (703 Main Street)
    • Family Fare (Forest Avenue)
    • Gaylord Loan Center (126 E. Main Street)
    • Traverse City Loan Center (416 E. Front Street)

Up to Five Free Transactions Per Month at Other Banks' ATMs
Withdraw funds at any ATM not listed above without a “foreign ATM charge” – up to five transactions per statement cycle. 


We'll Refund Other Banks' ATM Surcharges
No need to worry about incurring fees from other bank's ATMs. State Savings Bank will refund up to $20 of other banks' terminal surcharges each statement cycle!


How To Get Your Card

To apply for your State Savings Bank ATM or debit card, visit any of our offices. Can't make it in? Call us at (231) 399-0470 or toll-free (844) 377-5134 and we will mail you an application within 24 hours.

When we receive your completed application, we'll quickly process your request and mail your card to you when approved. Once you receive your card, you'll need to activate it and choose your confidential Personal Identification Number (PIN) by calling the toll-free phone number provided with your card.  (To change your PIN anytime, you can call the same activation phone number.)


Lost or Stolen Card?

If your State Savings Bank debit card has been lost or stolen, please contact us as soon as possible. Immediate reporting ensures that your possible losses will be kept to a minimum.

  • During regular business hours, call us at (231) 399-0470 or toll-free (844) 377-5134.
  • After hours, call toll-free (800) 236-2442 and select option 1 from the automated menu to deactivate your card immediately. (You'll need to order a new card by contacting us during regular business hours).
